THE Burton Albion Community Football Centre is set to host a group to help people who have lost a loved one and need support.
St Giles Hospice is moving its Burton Bereavement Help Point to the brand new site, based at the Pirelli Stadium, from Monday 22nd January.
The Help Point will take place from 2pm-4pm every Monday and is open to anyone who needs support with bereavement.
Ian Leech Community Engagement Manager for St Giles said the new venue was an ideal place to host the help point.
“We are delighted to partner with Burton Albion Community Trust, who do some amazing work and the trust really is at the heart of the community,” he said.
“Losing a friend or family member can be incredibly difficult and our Help Points are easily accessible, free groups that anyone can attend.
“There’s no need to register, just come along to any of the Help Points to find out more from our trained bereavement support volunteers.”
St Giles operates nine Help Points across its catchment area including the new Burton location. Full details of all locations are here https://www.stgileshospice.com/how-we-can-help-you/our-care/bereavement-support/support-for-adults/
The Bereavement Help Point is open to any adult who has lost someone, not just people already known to St Giles, and provides help and support for people who need it for as long as they need it.
“Our Bereavement Help Points provide free support for people who have lost someone and we are proud to say that people can get support within 48 hours if they need it,” said Director of Supportive Care Nikki Archer.
“We see it as a safety net for the community. Sometimes it just takes the opportunity to speak to someone who can empathise and understand.”
Lisa Beard, Community Operations Manager, said: “We are delighted to reach out to the community in partnership with St Giles and host the Bereavement Help Point at our new community facility.”
