BURTON Albion Community Trust have teamed up with African Adventures to offer the opportunity of a lifetime in Ghana, West Africa, next July.
From Saturday 28th July 2018, the Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT) team of volunteers will spend 10 nights working in schools in Woe, Volta region of Ghana. The trip aims to raise funds for Burton Albion Community Trust, whilst supporting African Adventures’ partner projects in Ghana and providing local people with a life-changing experience.
The money raised for BACT will enable them to continue the great work within the local community, working with people in disadvantaged areas and communities within East Staffordshire.
African Adventures works with community projects in developing areas of Africa. Volunteers can choose how they help, with project roles ranging from teaching in schools and working with underprivileged children, to football and multi-school training.
The trip will support African Adventures’ Community Development Pledge, which provides resources and micro-finance to all projects it supports. Volunteers of all ages are welcome but under 16’s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. There is no upper age limit.
Lee Milligan, Events and Partnerships Officer at Burton Albion Community Trust, is eager for people from Burton on Trent and surrounding area’s to enjoy this opportunity. He said: “This will be the 4th year Burton Albion Community Trust have endeavored to send a group of volunteers from the community out to Ghana for a life changing experience. We have had fantastic support from our local business and community leaders and last year proved to be a massive success and the trust are very proud of the work and effort of all involved.
“The children that you meet, the locals you encounter and the community workers you assist are all truly fantastic people. These trips really do make a difference.”
