A HOST of well-known celebrities entertained families at the Pirelli Stadium in a charity football match on Sunday afternoon.
Teams managed by Kerry Katona and Katie Price took part in the special match to raise funds for Burton Albion Community Trust.
Kerry’s team ran out 8-5 winners.
Among the celebrities taking part were James Argent, Shayne Ward, Dean Gaffney and team captains Stephen Graham and Calum Best.
Also taking part were Burton Albion legends Aaron Webster, John McGrath, Darren Stride, Christian Moore and Brewers manager Nigel Clough, who was on the scoresheet for team Katie.
Calum Best said: “It’s great to come to stadiums like Burton Albion and support the charity. We know it means a lot to the fans who come.
“Even though it’s for charity all the boys take it seriously and we are here to win. We are all very competitive.”
Former Brewers striker Christian Moore said it was great to be back at the Pirelli Stadium.
He said: “It’s just nice to get your boots back on. It has been a long time. It’s amazing what has happened here since I played for Burton Albion, the biggest shock in football and a brilliant achievement so it’s good to be back.”
Former Brewers skipper Darren Stride said: “We are all here to support Burton Albion Community Trust. I try and get down to home games when I can but it’s nice to be on the pitch again with the likes of John McGrath and Aaron Webster.”
Head of Community at Burton Albion Community Trust Matt Hancock said: “It was a great afternoon and a real family occasion that everyone enjoyed. I would like to thank all the celebrities who came to the event, Nigel Clough and all the Burton Albion legends who took part, and all the staff and volunteers from Burton Albion Football Club and Burton Albion Community Trust who helped make the event a success.
“Also thanks to our Match sponsors Close Brothers, Kevin Cooper and Sellebrity Soccer and everyone who turned up to watch and helped us raise funds for the valuable work the trust does in the community.”
Nigel Clough said: “It was a pleasure to take part in what was a great event and to help support the great work that is being done by Burton Albion Community Trust. Thanks to everyone who came along to make the day such a big success.”
