Educated at Kimbolton School, Huntingdonshire 1951- 1959.
Graduated from Liverpool University 1962 with major subjects being Geography, Geology, Economics and Economic History, and then proceeded to commence his teaching career at the Anglesey Secondary School in Burton on Trent in September 1962. David moved to the Forest of Needwood School in April 1970 to take up the position of Head of the Geography Department where he remained until the school closed in 1985. David retired in 1995 from his position as a Senior Teacher at the de Ferrers High School. During his academic career David served for 6 years as the Assistant Chief Examiner in Geography for the West Midlands C.S.E Board.
David has always had a big interest in Association Football, and served for several years as the Hon. Secretary of the Staffordshire Schools Football Association. In 1978 David was invited by Chairman Ben Robinson to join Burton Albion as the Football Secretary which he did in October 1978.
David joined the Board of Directors, and for a short time acted as the Club Chairman. Although no longer on the Board of Directors, David is actively involved on match days assisting with the Directors and guests seating..
David has been active in the local voluntary sector for many years. David is the President and a Trustee of the Bass Charity Vase which provides financial support for local good causes mainly through soccer related activities.
David has recently retired from the Board of Trustees of Age UK Burton after a period of 16 years. David served as its Chairman for 5 years during which time Age Concern joined forces with Help the Aged to become Age UK.
