A Team of volunteers who will be cycling 145 miles from Barnsley FC to the Amsterdam Arena the home of Ajax FC, representing Burton Albion FC in June are swapping there bike saddles for football boots to raise cash for Prostate Cancer UK.
Local businesses, football clubs and groups of friends are being invited to take part in a charity 5-a-side football tournament on Tuesday 29th March at the home of football St Georges Park. The event will kick off at 6pm on the indoor futsal pitch, teams are invited to enter a maximum squad of 10 with entry fees set at £150 per team.
The wining team will not only have the satisfaction of raising funds to help fight prostate cancer but they will receive there winning trophy on the pitch at a Burton Albion FC home fixture.
Prostate Cancer UK – the official charity partner of the Football League – aims to reach millions of football supporters through engagement activity across football grounds to raise awareness of the disease which now affects 1 in 8 men in the UK – that’s a death rate of 10,000 deaths a year. As well as raising awareness of the disease, the official partnership will help to raise funds so that more men survive it and enjoy a better quality life.
