KICKS PROGRAMME LAUNCHES

The start of 2017 will see an exciting new project get underway with BACT, as the ‘Premier League Kicks’ scheme gets underway within the local Burton upon Trent community and surrounding areas. The project, formally known as ‘Albion 2 Engage’, will continue to focus on tackling crime and anti-social behaviour within the local area, as new branding and support from the Premier League will look to help increase participation levels.

BACT has been engaging with individuals aged between 11-19 years old for over 5 years now, with youngsters partaking in a variety of free Football & Multi-Sport based sessions. The aim of the sessions is to engage, inspire & educate young children and adults using the brand of Burton Albion Football Club.

597 participants, across 8 different venues, took part in sessions with BACT between July 2016 and January 2017. The new branding and input from the Premier League will now aim to provide significant outcomes to the participants and communities within Burton and surrounding area.

Inspector Bob Champeau of East Staffordshire Local Policing Team, said: “The Kicks Programme is one which we a pleased to be associated with. It’s a great opportunity for officers from our Neighbourhood Teams to engage with young people on a positive stage. It gives us the confidence that when we are working with a trusted organisation such as the BACT, the young people we refer to them will be properly looked after and given every opportunity to divert from anti-social behaviour or crime.”
