MCCRORY PLAYS KEY ROLE IN BACT SUCCESS

DAMIEN McCrory has picked up two awards for his role as the club’s Prostate Cancer UK ambassador, helping support the trust’s major campaign this season.

He was named The Player in the Community at the Burton Albion Players’ Awards and also took the PFA Community Champion Award.

The Albion defender said: “Since I came here four years ago our work in the community and giving something back has always been important. The boys put in a lot of effort throughout the season. We have a schedule of appearances and everyone is willing to contribute.

“This season I have been proud to represent the club’s prostate cancer campaign and we as players get a lot out of putting this work into the community. It was a privilege to get the awards, not only from the club but the PFA as well.

“Prostate cancer is a brilliant cause and I just hope we have helped some people and their families who have faced difficult situations. I was happy to have helped out in some small way.”

Andy Taylor, BACT Head of Community says: “Making an impact in the community is part of this club’s DNA, The Prostate Cancer UK campaign has been a major part of that this year and Damien deserves the awards for all his help and support of what has proved a very successful and important project.”
