Bob was appointed to the board of Burton Albion Community Trust in 2012.
Bob has been a lifelong supporter of Burton Albion football Club, attending the first match in 1950. He became one of the first Vice Presidents in 1984.
After being called up for National Service, joining the RAF for 3 years and serving mainly in Scotland, he went on to have a successful career. He joined United Biscuits as a salesman in the East Midlands. He then worked for Truman’s Brewery as a Free Sales Representative, covering the West Midlands.
Bob was then transferred and promoted to Courage Brewery as a Free Sales Manager for the Midlands area, he was responsible for both field and tele sales teams.
Bob then went into self- employment for the next 25 years. Firstly running the Coach & Horses in Abbots Bromley with his wife for 14 years, building up and maintaining a solid customer base and developing the pub as a community establishment and well regarded Bed and Breakfast accommodation.
On leaving the Coach & Horses he went as a business partner helping to run a successful printing company which supplied many local businesses with all their printing and stationery requirements.
Bob retired in 2002 and from then on took a more active volunteering roll within the Burton Albion Football Club. He helps out in many different ways, mainly conducting ground tours and helping to look after the main reception on match days.
