Burton Albion Community Trust, in conjunction with Staffordshire FA and the Burton Junior Football League are piloting an Under 7’s futsal development league to be held at Meadowside Leisure Centre. The first of its kind in Burton will be a 5 week programme that kicks starts with a CPD accredited event for coaches on Wednesday 6th April from 6:00pm-8:00pm. The pilot league, open for BJFL teams only is to be played on Wednesday 13th April for four weeks. The 5v5 game will allow teams to play a minimum of a 26 minute game against other junior football clubs in a friendly and safe environment. Futsal is an official FIFA, UEFA and FA approved 5a-side variation of football played indoor with an emphasis on technique and creativity. Budding stars of the future will get to follow the same development as global football stars such as Messi and Ronaldo who honed their abilities playing the game of futsal.
Scott Taylor, Football co-coordinator comments, “We are delighted to work in partnership with the BJFL and Staffs FA to create a development pathway using futsal. As a tool this is a great opportunity for both players and coaches to understand a variation of football in a fun environment. The indoor game dictates a fast skilful open game for both boys and girls of all abilities to enjoy”
