BURTON ALBION COMMUNITY MAKE A WINNING START IN THE DERBYSHIRE WALKING FOOTBALL LEAGUE

On the 23rd November the Burton Albion Community Trust played Stanton at Springwood Leisure Centre in their first walking football league game.

This was a great game in which Burton established their own pattern of play early with crisp passing and effective closing down. With a good defence of Aubrey and, in turn, Andrew and Chris, alongside skilled goal keeping from Graham we  were always in with a chance of winning. The goals started to go in!

5-1 to Burton at half-time.

The second half started with a lack of concentration from the Burton team allowing Stanton back into the game. If not for Graham’s heroics in goal they may have got closer to drawing level.

All ended well in a final ten-minute flourish with both Nigel and Steve collecting two well-taken goals each. Mick’s energy and prompting in midfield, and Derek’s Man-of-the-Match performance ensured a deserved 9-3 victory in our first ever league fixture.

If you would like to be a part of a team or join one of our sessions then don’t hesitate to come down and have a go! We would love to see you there.
