BACT Over 50’s Walking Football 2015/16 Summary

THE 2015/16 Walking Football season was classed as a ‘huge success’ for Burton Albion. Our teams have built up a worthy reputation in a very short time, for the positive attitude and the sense of fair-play that has been brought to the game. We have also gained praise and recognition for the quality of our play which is a great reflection on the whole for the Community Trust and Burton Albion as a whole.

Player/Manager Andrew Robertson said, “this first season has involved 28 over 50’s playing Walking Football fixtures, 17 of which are over the age of 60. Its been a huge success and fantastic season as a whole and we hope to have a similar, if not better season, in the coming season ahead!”.


Walking Football United National Competition – Central Region Champions & National Finals – semi-finalists (lost on Golden Goal)

 BBC/FA Peoples’ Cup – Regional semi-finalists (lost on penalties)

Football League Trust National Competition – Midland Region semi-finalists

During the season, Burton Albion have also taken part in festivals and riendlies in Derby, Doncaster, Lilleshall, Carlton, Etwall, Swadlincote and Nottingham.
