SHAUN Barker won the PFA Community Champion Award 2017/18 and was presented with his trophy before Saturday’s game against Bolton Wanderers.
As club captain, Barker has made the most player appearances of any Burton Albion first team player this season.
Burton Albion Community Trust’s Head of Community Matt Hancock said: “Shaun has become our disability ambassador this season and has taken to this role to personally help to develop our disability projects. He has also provided us with equipment to offer a sensory room on specific matchdays and for community use throughout the week.
“He has taken responsibility for making sure that all community appearances have run smoothly this season, even when not in attendance.”
Barker said: “I have been at Burton Albion a couple of years now and know the effort that goes into community work here. I was keen to be a part of that as soon as I signed for the club.”
