BRETBY ROTARY CLUB MAKE DONATION TO BACT

FOLLOWING on from the ‘Beer to Burton’ barrel pull from Wolverhampton to Burton-upon-Trent last August, Bretby Rotary Club have kindly donated over £5,400 to Burton Albion Community Trust.

The monies raised have gone towards buying sports equipment, which will support disability projects run within the local community in Burton and South Staffordshire.

BACT staff joined rotary club members pulling a beer barrel from the Marstons Brewery in Wolverhampton to the Burton Brewery on Shobnall Road, over three days using the canal network.

Matt Hancock, Head of Community, said: “It’s a really generous amount of money that’s been donated and we’re really grateful to Bretby Rotary Club in enabling us to develop and deliver new provision for those with disabilities within the area.

“Donations such as this one are vital to allow us to continue the work that we do and we really can’t wait to be able to use the equipment across the projects that we deliver.”

President of the Rotary Club, Tom Hunt, commented:  “This was a real team effort with many of the members contributing in one way or another, and it epitomised the Rotary motto of ‘service above self’.

“The Rotary Club of Bretby is dedicated to helping in any way in can in the local community, and we look forward to working with BACT on more projects in the future.”
