THE Rotary Club of Bretby will be pulling a barrel of beer, along the canal towpath, from the Wolverhampton brewery to the Marstons Brewery on Shobnall Road, Burton upon Trent over the Spring bank holiday weekend.

The journey will start at Wolverhampton on Friday 17th August and aim to finish in Burton on the afternoon of Sunday 19th August at the Marstons Visitor Centre. A total distance of eighty kilometres! The pull is being undertaken with the help of Marstons Brewery plc and the Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT).

Whilst this sounds as if IT’S carrying “coals to Newcastle”, the difference is that the beer pull has a really worthwhile objective as we are hoping to raise £5,000 for the provision of two Sport & Activity programmes for local children with disabilities which will run between June 2018 and May 2019.

Consequently, the Rotary Club of Bretby are looking for individuals and companies in the area to support “the pull” by donating a minimum of £50 for one kilometre.

Payments can either be made by cheque to the Rotary Club of Bretby or by direct bank transfer (Lloyds Bank sort code 30-91-47, account number 00579297).

BACT hope that volunteers will be able to support this fantastic project and help deliver these much needed sporting programmes for children with disabilities.

In return, your support will be acknowledged in all the event publicity including the Marstons, BACT and Rotary websites and Facebook pages and you will also have the satisfaction of supporting a very worthwhile cause.

If you would like any more information or are interested in helping us with the project in any way please email or contact Douglas Gilks on 0792 7560 580.
