GOLDEN Goal Walking Football programme, a slow-paced version of the beautiful game. This session is aimed at over 45s, 50s, 65s and is currently being delivered across East Staffordshire at 3 different venues.

Golden Goal Walking Football is designed to help people keep an active lifestyle, as well as getting those back playing football who had to stop due to injuries.

The craze has been designed to get participants on their feet and playing a 5-a-side version of the game at a pace that they are more comfortable with. During this time, there is also the chance to meet and make friends with other local players, in a relaxed environment.

Scott Taylor, Football Development Manager, said: “We have participants attending weekly from different backgrounds, with the programme supporting people who are recovering from ill health, who are retired and who just want to get back into football at a much slower pace. It has also provided them opportunities to create friendships, visit different football clubs and represent Burton Albion & Burton Albion Community Trust.”

Golden Goal Walking Football runs throughout the week at Burton Albion Community football Centre (Pirelli Stadium), Anglesey Community Football Centre and at Uttoxeter Leisure Centre.
