A NEW fitness initiative to support people’s mental health is set to get underway this evening at the Pirelli Stadium this evening (Monday 7 January).
RED January will aim to help people keep active every single day throughout January, run by staff from Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT). Run Every Day , is run in conjunction with the EFL mental health charity, MIND. If it’s running 5k, or walking to work a new way, a morning swim or just taking the bike for a spin – join the thousands of people around the UK kick-starting their 2019 in the most positive way.
Sessions will run every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evening between 6pm-7pm at the Pirelli Stadium, between now and the end of the month. The sessions are free, with a donation bucket available at each session to donate to MIND.
Sessions are open to people of all fitness abilities, from beginners, right up to marathon runners. A bootcamp, running club and boxing class will alternate each week on specific dates, with home workout demonstrations also available to participants via the BACT social media channels.
Boxing – Basic boxing for all abilities, using pads, gloves, and shadow boxing. A workout which uses the cardiovascular system, as well as the core. There will be no fighting one another, just friendly work out together, something new for everyone to try.
Bootcamp – Cardiovascular workout, which is designed for each participants own progression. No fitness levels are required, simply get involved and kick start your January – weights and body weight involved.
Running Club – Running session for all abilities. Whether you’re a marathon runner or a new starter, come and push yourselves to the limits! Distances vary, ranging from short to long distance, gradually building on the distance throughout the month together.
