Volunteer cyclists hit the road to raise awareness of charity cycle ride

Burton Albion FC mascot Billy Brewer will join a team of volunteer cyclists to travel 25 miles across Burton and South Derbyshire on Friday 6th May to raise awareness and support of there 145 charity cycle from Barnsley FC to the home of Ajax FC in Amsterdam this June.

They will visit 9 venues in one day starting in Ashby at 8am and aiming to be back the Pirelli Stadium for 1.30pm to join the Stretton pre school to complete there cycle around the pitch event which takes place tomorrow. The team which is made up of Burton Albion Community Trust’s head of community Andy Taylor; community manager Matthew Hancock and health and inclusion manager John Widdowson will be joined by the business operations manager from Burton Co-operative Trust Deb Bacon and Hollie Benton, who is the family and education practitioner from the East Staffordshire’s Children Centre.

Billy Brewer will not be the only guest joining the team tomorrow as Gordon Sefton of the Pingle School will be joining the team as they travel across the borders of Burton and South Derbyshire.

Volunteer cyclist Andy Taylor said “were all really excited to be representing Burton Albion FC this June as part of the #FootballtoAmsterdam ride, but more importantly hope to raise a considerable amount of money which can impact on men’s helath programmes locally and nationally.”

All the riders would like to thank in advance Cycling 2000 for their support on the day and also all the partners / organisations and schools who are accommodating them on the day.
