BURTON Albion Community Trust (BACT) are delighted to announce that ahead of the up and coming trip in partnership with African Adventures this July, we are now also recruiting for another trip to the African country next year in Easter 2019.

African Adventures has organised trips for over 20 football league clubs and specialises in providing sports enrichment programmes for community sports trusts to volunteer in Africa. The organisation has helped community sports trusts, like BACT, to raise over £500,000 for their various causes through innovative fundraising programmes.

African Adventures works with several government schools in the coastal area of the Volta region in Ghana. Whilst these are government schools, they are severely underfunded and lack vital resources. African Adventures is working with its partner schools to improve their facilities and encourage more children to go to school from an early age.

BACT volunteers can choose between a teaching and multi-sports coaching role or construction and renovation role. If you decide to assist with teaching, you will work alongside teachers and other volunteers to help manage the demands of educating large classes of mixed students, aged between 5-16. Alongside providing teaching assistance, you may choose to participate in sports coaching too and may be tasked with supporting a teacher to deliver a PE lesson or, if comfortable and confident, will have the chance to deliver independent sports sessions. Alternatively, as a building volunteer, you will work in a support role led by local expert builders and will continue with ongoing construction work through activities such as painting, brick-laying and plastering.
