BURTON Albion Community Trust (BACT) is proud to be partnering with Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) to support the exciting new Level 3 course in Esports Management.
This two-year, full-time qualification is equivalent to three A-levels, aimed at preparing young people for careers in the ever-growing world of esports. As part of this innovative course, BACT will provide six hours of enrichment per week, offering real-life experience and community involvement.
The Burton Albion Community Trust team will work alongside students to plan and deliver a regional esports tournament involving local secondary schools, helping to identify and celebrate the area’s top gaming talent. In addition, students will support BACT in delivering interactive VR workshops, introducing cutting-edge technology to schools across East Staffordshire.
This partnership brings together the educational expertise of BSDC and BACT’s experience in community development to create a well-rounded programme that not only builds technical and digital skills but also develops confidence, teamwork, leadership and employability.
Students will benefit from access to a brand-new Esports Suite at BSDC, equipped with a feature competition stage, production studio, high-performance PCs and consoles. The course also covers areas such as video production, social media content creation, branding, marketing and the use of industry software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Nacsport.
Together, the partnership is opening doors for young people to thrive in one of the fastest-growing industries globally and giving them the tools to positively impact their communities along the way.
Jayne Gidman, Education Manager at Burton Albion Community Trust, said: “This programme offers an incredible chance for young people in our region to gain a deeper understanding of a dynamic and fast-growing industry, while developing essential life and career skills. Through our partnership with Burton and South Derbyshire College, we are combining the power of education with meaningful community involvement – empowering students to build confidence, lead projects, and make a real difference in local schools and communities.”
Lee Mitchell, Director of Curriculum at BSDC, added, “We are thrilled to expand our successful partnership with Burton Albion Community Trust through the launch of this new Esports Management course. Our current Esports Management course has already set a strong foundation, and this new version will run alongside it, providing the unique opportunity to run tournaments and get involved with workshops with Burton Albion Community Trust. Esports is more than just a game – it’s a growing sector which promotes teamwork, communication and strategic thinking, leading to exciting job opportunities in the Esports industry and beyond.”
