Safeguarding

Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share and uphold this commitment through our “Safer Brewers” approach, built around three key pillars: Safe People, Safe Places, and Safe Practices.

BACT has robust systems in place to ensure the welfare of vulnerable groups is managed appropriately, professionally, and sensitively. Everyone working within BACT has a responsibility to help create a safe environment that protects children and young people from harm.

Our safeguarding standards ensure all staff understand their duties under current safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance. Staff are trained to recognise signs of abuse or neglect and are required to report any concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead through established safeguarding procedures.

BACT also follows safer recruitment practices for all roles involving direct work with children, young people, or vulnerable adults, including enhanced criminal record and reference checks.

WHISTLE-BLOWING

Whistle-blowing in a safeguarding context means revealing and raising concerns over misconduct or malpractice within an organisation, or within an independent structure associated with it.

It can be used as an early-warning system or when it is recognised that appropriate actions have not been taken. This approach or policy is adopted in many different walks of life.

Any adult or young person with concerns about a colleague’s conduct towards a child or young person can also use whistle-blowing by calling 0800 169 1863 and asking for The FA’s safeguarding team, or via email to: safeguarding@TheFA.com.

Our Whistle-blowing Policy can be viewed below.
