BACT LAUNCHES SECONDARY SCHOOLS GIRLS FOOTBALL LEAGUE

BURTON Albion Community Trust recently held the first week of its Secondary School Girls football League.

The competition, which aims to provide girls aged 11-15 more opportunities to play competitive football, features teams from schools from the surrounding areas.

Each game week consists of matches between teams from school years 7-8 and years 9-10. The schools taking part are: Paulet High School, Oldfields Hall Middle School, Abbot Beyne School, de Ferrers Academy, The William Allitt Academy, John Taylor Free School, John Taylor High School, Nether Stowe School and Granville.

BACT womens and girls coordinator Steve Guest said: “With the successful EFL Utilita under 13s girls cup, we spoke to local schools around girls games and fixtures. We are glad to be working together to give opportunities for schools to get involved and play matches against other schools.

“The female game is growing and growing and providing as many opportunities for girls to play football is vital for us. We can’t wait to see the result and more importantly the future of the league.”
