BAFC First Team Women’s players Farrah Hoyle and Cassie Blood recently visited Edge Hill’s girls-only Premier League Primary Stars after-school club, delivered by Burton Albion Community Trust.
The visit aimed to inspire the next generation of female footballers and shine a light on the positive impact football has on confidence, wellbeing and community participation.
Through Premier League Primary Stars, the Premier League works alongside professional football clubs to:

Create more opportunities for children to take part in football, sport and physical activity.

Increase engagement and awareness of football’s positive influence both in and beyond the school environment.
During the session, Farrah and Cassie joined in with activities, offered encouragement throughout the afternoon and signed photos for the enthusiastic young players.
Charlie Wood, BACT Schools Coordinator, said: “It was fantastic to welcome Farrah and Cassie to Edge Hill. The girls were absolutely buzzing, and having role models like them makes such a massive difference. You could see how inspired the players were, sessions like this really help build confidence and show our young participants what’s possible.”
Farrah Hoyle added: “Seeing the girls so full of energy and confidence was amazing. If our visit helps even one of them believe that football has a place for them, then it’s all worth it. They’re the future of the game, and it’s inspiring to be part of their journey.”
Cassie Blood also shared her thoughts: “We loved joining the session earlier this week, the enthusiasm from the girls was unreal. Football has given us so much, and being able to give something back, encourage them, and show what’s possible means everything. They should all be so proud of themselves.”
The girls’ after-school club continues to grow in popularity, with programmes like this highlighting the power of professional role models in motivating girls to participate in sport, build confidence and stay active.
