Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT) was proud to be part of the Burton Albion Family Fun Day held last Sunday at Uttoxeter Racecourse – a fantastic event celebrating community, family fun, and sport.
As the official charity partners of Uttoxeter Racecourse, BACT played a key role in organising the event, which featured a standout moment – the Mascot Race, bringing together beloved mascots from football clubs across the region. The race added a light-hearted yet competitive spirit to the day, with mascots including:
- Billy Brewer – Burton Albion
- Archie – Uttoxeter Racecourse
- Rammie – Derby County
- Blue – Shrewsbury Town
- Mr. Magpie – Notts County
- Pottermus – Stoke City
- Swifty – Walsall
It was Billy Brewer who emerged victorious, storming over the finish line and securing the £200 prize for BACT along with the coveted trophy. The funds will go directly toward supporting the Trust’s ongoing community programmes.
BACT Community Manager, Katie Johnson, said: “A huge thank you to Uttoxeter Racecourse and the other local football clubs for bringing the excitement and spirit of the mascot race to the Burton Albion Family Fun Day. It was an unforgettable event that really added to the day – hopefully it will become an annual feature of this great day. We are so grateful to Uttoxeter Racecourse for their generous support of BACT’s fundraising efforts, helping make a real difference in our community.”
Brian Barrass, Regional Director at Uttoxeter Racecourse, added: “Thank you to everyone at BACT who helped bring together so many of the region’s much-loved mascots for a truly entertaining mascot race. Congratulations to Billy Brewer on a fantastic win and well-deserved prize for BACT. We’re proud to continue supporting the amazing work they do for our local communities.”
BACT would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the mascots and clubs who took part in the race – your energy and enthusiasm helped make the day a real celebration of community spirit.
