To mark International Womens’ Day, BACT hosted a fantastic cross-programme event to celebrate. The evening brought together our Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) players and BAFC Boys Academy for a series of matches. It was a brilliant showcase of skill, determination and sportsmanship, with plenty of laughter and healthy competition throughout. Most importantly, it was wonderful to see the Academy and our Girls’ Pathway come together to mark the occasion.
BACT Women & Girls Team Leader, Steve Guest, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to share the highlights from our recent cross-programme event held this Wednesday in celebration of International Women’s Day.
“The evening featured an incredible series of matches, with our Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) players taking to the pitch against the BAFC Boys Academy. The atmosphere was electric, defined by brilliant displays of skill, great spirit and a fantastic sense of healthy competition.
“The core mission of our Girls’ ETC is to provide a high-performance environment for gifted and talented footballers from Burton and the surrounding areas. Seeing our players come together with the Boys Academy to celebrate this occasion was a powerful testament to the inclusive culture we are building across the club.
“It was a proud moment for everyone involved to see our girls compete at such a high level alongside a Category 3 Academy. The evening provided the perfect platform to showcase just how much these players have developed throughout the season – their growth has been nothing short of inspiring.
“It was an amazing event overall and a great opportunity to showcase our ETC girls and how far the programme has come. We hope this will be the first of many opportunities we can create for our players. If you’re interested in trialling for next season’s ETC, keep an eye on our social media channels for registration details in the coming weeks.”
Burton Albion Academy Foundation Phase Lead, James Lloyd, added: “It was a really positive evening and a great example of the collaboration between the boys’ Academy and the girls’ Emerging Talent Centre (ETC).
“Bringing the two programmes together created a fun but challenging environment for the players, with both the boys and girls enjoying the opportunity to test themselves against each other. It was great to see the quality on show how well everyone represented the club.”
