CELEBRATING SUCCESS ON AND OFF THE PITCH: BACT HONOURS FOOTBALL & EDUCATION PROGRAMME STUDENTS

Burton Albion Community Trust (BACT) proudly celebrated the achievements of its Football and Education Programme students on last Monday evening, in a special event sponsored by Raygar Agricultural & Engineering Supplies Ltd. The evening recognised the dedication, progress, and accomplishments of students both on the field and in the classroom.

In collaboration with Burton and South Derbyshire College, BACT hosted an inspiring awards evening to spotlight the hard work and growth of those involved in the Football and Education Programme.

More than just an awards ceremony, the event served as a heartfelt reflection of the values at the core of Burton Albion Football Club: teamwork, resilience, development, and community. Students were commended not only for academic and athletic performance, but also for their commitment, character, and growth throughout the year.

“This evening was about more than just goals and grades, it was about celebrating the spirit of BAFC,” said James Billings, Post-16 Lead.

“Football has taught resilience on the pitch, whilst education has prepared our students off it. Together, we are developing not only skilled footballers and motivated learners, but confident individuals ready to take on the world.”

A variety of awards were presented to recognise outstanding contributions across all teams, alongside achievements in personal growth and the successful balancing of academic and sporting commitments.

Reflecting on the occasion, Jayne Gidman, Education Manager at BACT, said: “Monday’s event was a wonderful celebration of passion, talent, and the powerful link between football and education. It was a privilege to witness such an uplifting gathering, surrounded by young people who are thriving both in sport and in their studies. Events like these highlight the transformative impact of combining education and sport.”

As the Football and Education Programme continues to flourish, the celebration served as a reminder of the meaningful journeys these young individuals are undertaking, developing not only as players and students, but as confident, capable people ready for the next chapter.
