BURTON Albion Community Trust (BACT) is proud to announce that two students from its Football and Education (F&E) Programme, Connor Okereke and Davis Kommey, recently represented Burton Albion Academy in Youth Alliance League fixtures against Preston North End and Lincoln City.
Okereke and Kommey, who have been key players in the F&E First Team during a successful, league-winning season, were called up to feature for the Scholars side. Both were introduced as second-half substitutes during the away fixture against Preston North End.
Despite the match ending in a 3-1 defeat for the young Brewers, both players made a notable impact and came close to scoring, contributing to a much-improved second-half performance.
Dave Freeman, U18s Lead Coach at Burton Albion Academy, praised the pair’s contributions: “Although the game ended in a 3-1 defeat to Preston, both Connor and Davis contributed positively to the second half, showing a great attitude and eagerness to develop. Their willingness to seek feedback on their performance demonstrates maturity and a growth mindset.
Their involvement is a testament to the excellent work being carried out within the Football & Education Programme and further strengthens the relationship between the BAFC Academy and the Community Trust.”
Connor Adams, Football, Community and Inclusion Co-ordinator and Football & Education First Team Coach at BACT, added: “Both Connor and Davis have been exceptional throughout the season. Their selection for the Scholars side reflects their professionalism, dedication, and consistently high performance levels. They are a credit to the programme.”
The involvement of F&E students in competitive Academy fixtures highlights the continued success and integration of Burton Albion’s Football & Education pathway, offering young players a valuable route to progress both on and off the pitch.
