PREMIER LEAGUE KICKS TEAMS SHINE AT WINDRUSH TOURNAMENT WITH GIRLS’ TITLE TRIUMPH

Our Premier League Kicks U15 boys’ and U14 girls’ teams proudly represented their communities at the Windrush Tournament on Saturday 13 June at Alexandra Stadium, delivered in partnership with the Black History Partnership.

The tournament brought together young people from across the region to celebrate football, culture, and community. Teams from several leading club community organisations competed, including West Bromwich Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Derby County, and Leicester City, creating a competitive and inspiring atmosphere throughout the day.

Both of our Premier League Kicks teams produced impressive performances, demonstrating skill, teamwork, and determination from start to finish. The girls’ side excelled throughout the competition, earning a well-deserved tournament victory thanks to their resilience and quality on the pitch. The boys also performed admirably, competing strongly against talented opposition and showcasing excellent football across the day.

Beyond the competition, the event offered young people the opportunity to build confidence, make new connections, and celebrate the lasting legacy of the Windrush generation through the power of sport.

Charles Sketchley, Inclusion Team Leader, said:

“I hope all of the young people enjoyed the opportunity to be part of such an important and inspiring event. The girls were outstanding and thoroughly deserved their success, while the boys showed great character and quality against strong opposition. Both teams represented themselves and their communities brilliantly, and every player should be proud of their achievements.”

The Windrush Tournament continues to be an important platform for promoting inclusion, diversity, and community engagement through football, creating positive experiences and lasting memories for everyone involved.
