BACT DISABILITY CELEBRATION EVENT HONOURS ACHIEVEMENTS AND COMMUNITY IMPACT

BACT recently hosted its annual Disability Celebration Event, recognising and celebrating the achievements of our beneficiaries.

The evening showcased dedication, teamwork and progress across our disability football programmes and social clubs. Awards were presented to honour hard work, creating a proud and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone, with all programmes across football and social provision recognised.

The 2025–2026 season delivered a number of highlights, including two female cerebral palsy players representing the England Lionesses, continued growth within our social clubs, and our senior CP side securing 3rd place in the CP National League, narrowly missing out on the Disability Cup on TNT.

With over 150 weekly engagements across our community projects, the event reflected an inclusive and welcoming environment where participants feel confident, supported and proud.

Inclusion Team Leader, Charles Sketchley, said: “It was fantastic to showcase the impact of BACT’s work in the community and to see the smiles on everyone’s faces as they were recognised. Events like this bring people together and help build confidence.”

Overall, the event was a great success, celebrating ability and strengthening community connections through Burton Albion Community Trust.

Programme Manager, Ben Webster, added: “”Our annual Disability Celebration Event is always a highlight of the year, but this season feels particularly special. From seeing our senior cerebral palsy side compete on a national stage to welcoming new faces into our weekly social clubs and inclusive football sessions, the growth has been phenomenal. With over 150 weekly engagements, BACT is about more than just sport, it’s about creating a safe, inclusive environment where people feel confident and supported. I am incredibly proud of every single participant and coach who makes this community so vibrant.”

BACT would like to express our sincere gratitude to Holiday Inn Express Burton for their continued support as a valued partner of our disability programmes. We are also incredibly proud to work alongside the Premier League Foundation, through the Premier League Kicks programme, and the Staffordshire County FA to expand opportunities and deliver inclusive football sessions across our community.
