BURTON Albion Community Trust has received a generous donation thanks to Russell Roof Tiles.
The Burton based roofing company pledged to supported 11 causes last year, including food banks, animal centres, mental health charities, veterans, the homeless and blood bikes.
Over £12,000 was raised at the Russell Roof Tiles quiz night, which returned to the Pirelli Stadium this year. £6,300 of the money raised on the night was donated to Burton Albion Community Trust.
More than 200 people made up a total of 53 teams of four, which included customers, friends, family, staff and suppliers from across the UK, joined the leading roof tile manufacturer for an evening of competitive quizzing, an auction and a raffle at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium.
Burton Albion’s own team, The Cherokees, captained by chairman Ben Robinson MBE DL, came narrowly second in the quiz which was won by Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
BACT Partnerships and Events manager Stefanie White said: “We thank Russell Roof Tiles for their extreme generosity. We have seen demand for our projects rise in recent times and it’s because of donations like this that we can continue to meet the demand and go above and beyond.”
Andrew Hayward, Russell Roof Tiles Managing Director said: “This was our biggest and best quiz so far; we had just over 200 people attend and so we want to say a massive thank you. It was once again an incredible night that helped us raise a huge amount of money that will help us support charities within our communities and make a real difference to people’s lives.
“This year, we’re supporting 11 different causes, including, food banks, animal centres, mental health charities, veterans, the homeless and blood bikes.”
