BREWERS PLACE OF WELCOME OFFERS WEEKLY ESCAPE FROM COST-OF-LIVING PRESSURES

WITH the cost-of-living crisis having a huge impact on people’s lives, Burton Albion Community Trust is offering people a weekly opportunity to come together to find friendship and a warm welcome.

The Brewers Place of Welcome launches on December 7 and is open to everyone but is especially targeted at anyone who is struggling financially or with their health and wellbeing this winter.

It will take place every Wednesday at the Burton Albion Community Trust building at the Pirelli Stadium where people will find a warm space, a great welcome and chance to have a hot drink and a chat.

Brewers supporters will also get the chance to talk to fellow fans about their favourite football team and are welcome to bring Burton Albion memorabilia with them as a talking point.

The Brewer Place of Welcome takes place from noon until 2pm. It’s free and everyone is welcome.

The project is a part of the EFL’s Together – Supporting Communities initiative, which is directly linked to the Government’s Help for Households plan and is designed to provide much-needed local support at a critical time.

Burton Albion Community Trust Head of Community Matt Hancock said: “The cost of living crisis is having a direct impact on everyone and it’s going to be a tough winter with energy and food prices rising all the time.

“Football clubs across the country are supporting the EFL’s efforts to make a difference and we are delighted to be able to offer this weekly session.

“Burton Albion prides itself on being a welcoming and friendly environment for all visitors and our Brewers Place of Welcome is a natural extension of that.”

Burton Albion manager Dino Maamria said: “Helping the community is a major priority for this football club and this is another great initiative from BACT. I know the players will be keen to support this and to drop in and welcome people at some of the sessions going forward.”

The sessions take place every Wednesday from noon-2pm starting from December 7. There is no need to book, or register, simply turn up.
