BURTON Albion’s Matchday Experience went global for our fixture against Shrewsbury as we welcomed Louisiana Fire to the Pirelli Stadium.
Fresh off the plane from the United States, the team travelled to East Staffordshire for a coaching session with Burton Albion’s own Keith Gilroy and were thoroughly put through their paces by the former Brewers man. As an added bonus, the team was presented a signed shirt by first team players Louis Moult and Ryan Leak.
Following the session, the team were flag bearers as Burton Albion and Shrewsbury took to the pitch. During half-time, they were treated to a lap of the pitch and were applauded by spectators in all four stands and had a shoutout over the PA system.
Ritchie Semple, founder of Total Football Experience and the organiser of the trip, said: “We chose Burton Albion’s Matchday Experience as the perfect place for Louisiana Fire as we are always looking to partner with professional teams that go above and beyond to provide a detailed package of experiences at an affordable price.
“For everyone, the players, the coaches and all of the parents, everything ran smoothly and was well organised. Everyone involved from Burton Albion FC also spent time talking to the group, nothing was too much for them. It was a great touch with a player presenting a signed shirt to the group.
“We have created a great itinerary with the input of the Louisiana Fire coach. Apart from the quality Matchday Experience today, we have a match against Burton Albion Academy U14s at St George’s Park, followed by matches against Chester FC and Airbus UK FC. “
Keith Gilroy, former Burton Albion player and now a BAFC Academy coach, said: “It was a joy to coach the Louisiana Fire team. Despite the fact they landed at 7am and came straight from the airport, they were full of energy and gave their all in the session. I hope it wasn’t too much for them!”
