POWELL AND OSHILAJA VISIT HOLIDAY FOOD PROGRAMME

JOE Powell and Deji Oshilaja have visited one of Burton Albion Community Trust’s holiday activities and food programmes.

The Brewers stars were in attendance at Scientia Academy to give out packed lunches yesterday afternoon, before spending their remaining time joining in with the fun and games alongside BACT coaches.

After the session finished, which included dodgeball, football, cricket and woodland walks, the pair spent time signing programmes and posing for selfies with the excited youngsters.

Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) is the free school meals programme that BACT operates during half term times.

After the visit, Powell said: “We had an amazing time this afternoon. The kids were so much fun to be around and it was also a privilege to play our part in providing food to some of those that need support.

“The work that the club does in the community is excellent and we’re glad that we are given these opportunities, even if it makes just a small difference.”

Community Engagement Manager, Paul Gaskin, said: “The HAF programme is vital in providing free meals to those who need support during the school holidays.

“To have some of the men’s first team players coming down to support is massive and it’s also brilliant to see the smiles that it has put on the kids faces.”
